Social Media Campaign Support for International Youth Day
BACKGROUND:
BRAC International is a leading nonprofit organisation with a mission to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease, and social injustice. BRAC International designs proven, scalable solutions that equip people with the support and confidence they need to achieve their potential. BRAC’s institutional expertise on successfully implemented programmes is applied across 17 countries, touching the lives of over 130 million people, where the models are adapted according to the country’s context.
There are over 1.8 billion adolescents worldwide. Africa is the youngest continent in the world and Asia also has a significant youth population. They face challenges of accessing quality education and employment and things have only been exacerbated by pandemic, conflict and climate change. And adolescent girls and young women face additional challenges of early pregnancy and early marriage.
To support young people in successful transitions to adulthood, BRAC International uses our rigorously tested and evidence-based Youth Empowerment Programme to deliver holistic empowerment programming, inclusive of social and economic empowerment, and positively influence enabling environments. We aim to reach 4 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) over the next five years in the Asia and Africa regions through a three-pronged approach: direct delivery, partnership and capacity sharing.
