The Social Media Intern will contribute to the strategy, planning, and execution of social media content for the center across Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , and YouTube . Reporting to the Social Media Coordinator, Austin Dunn ([email protected] ), they will work to help capture content from events, assemble assets for future programming, create images/videos for posting, and schedule posts for the center’s feeds. As part of their role, the Social Media intern will help monitor the latest trends and produce new ways to engage with the center’s current and target audiences.

In addition to departmental responsibilities, all Wexner Center interns participate in a center-wide internship cohort. To support this cohort, the Learning & Public Practice department offers professional development sessions and gatherings that interns are expected to attend throughout their internship. We welcome feedback on the internship program as a whole and seek to foster a collaborative and generative environment for all interns.

Responsibilities:

  • 45% Content Development – In collaboration with the Communications/Marketing team, under the guidance of the Social Media Coordinator, the Social Media Intern will generate and execute ideas for social media content across all platforms, including designed photo and video content. The intern will work closely with the social coordinator to plot and capture content at Wexner Center for the Arts programs for social distribution.
  • 30% Creating/Scheduling Posts – The intern will assist the Social Media Coordinator to draft, edit, send for review, and schedule social media content across all channels. Drafting content will include the creation or collection of assets, links, UTM tracking codes, alt text, and more for distribution.
  • 15% Analytics/Platform Development – Under the supervision of their supervisor, the intern will review and prepare reports for social media analytics to distribute to Communications/Marketing members. The intern will also review industry trends and research latest features for key platforms.
  • 10% Monitoring/Engagement – The intern will help monitor the Wex’s social media accounts and provide timely responses and engagement to audiences.

Requirements:

10–12 hours, August/September 2024–May 2025, some nights and weekends may be required.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Applicants are asked to send examples of their content creation on social media for organizations or personal use.
  • Knowledgeable on social media including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X. Knows latest social media trends and stays up to date on latest features. Experience creating content for social media.
  • Attention to detail and eye for design, photo, and video.
  • Some experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, Premiere Rush, Express, or After Effects for content creation preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable with narration or serving as a social media ambassador for Instagram and Facebook reels.
  • Strong writing/communication skills with the ability to adhere to the Wex’s brand.
  • Interested in the arts, film, performing arts, and arts education.

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Wex internships are open to

  • students currently enrolled in a college or university (graduating seniors, graduate students and international students are welcome)
  • recent high school or university graduates (1-3 years post-completion) and
  • emerging professionals with less than 5 years of experience in the arts and culture or nonprofit fields.

Term: This internship takes place over the academic year (Fall 2024 – Spring 2025).

Compensation: Pay range is $10.45 – $14/hr. Amount and method of payment will be determined by candidate experience. The Wex can also support course credit work through the candidate’s home academic unit in lieu of monetary compensation, if preferred.
