| GENERAL DESCRIPTION | The social media specialist will stay on top of the social media trends. They need to be aware of what’s trending and what’s on the horizon in the ever-changing social media landscape. This position will report to the Director of Marketing and Analytics and will help to develop and implement Illinois Tech’s social media strategy, social media policy, and social media advertising plans, and will analyze all data to make sure the university is getting the best ROI on the social media plans. |
| COMMUNICATIONS | Excellent written and oral communication skills are required as well as the ability to move multiple projects on deadline. The ability to interact with faculty, staff, students is essential. This position will be working in multiple social media platforms including but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and Twitter. This position will also need a working knowledge of Google Apps (email, docs, forms) to share files with internal university clients including other M&C team members. |
| CUSTOMER SERVICE | The social media specialist will work with the Directory of Marketing and Analytics to provide strategic social media counsel to other members of the M&C team, and various other members of the Illinois Tech community. This position requires exceptional customer services and customer relationship management skills. The ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with university clients, and outside vendors and to provide extraordinary value to all constituencies is essential. |
| Special Schedule Requirements | May need to work some nights and weekends to promote university events. |

Qualifications
| Education & Experience | Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or related field required with a minimum of 2 years experience. Higher Education experience preferred. At least one-year planning and managing social calendar required. |
