Job Description
Educational Outreach and Student Services seeks a motivated and highly creative social media specialist to join our Career Services team. The Social Media Specialist performs a variety of different duties to ensure ASU Career Services has a comprehensive social media strategy. The Social Media Specialist establishes and maintains clients’ online reputation, researches/identifies trends in social media, and performs behind the scenes work, provides daily monitoring, posting, and updating for the department. This position works directly with team members to develop and expand external outreach via social platforms and works closely with Marketing and Communications leadership in the department, and the division, to align on messaging and branding.

Salary Range
$55,000 – $57,000 per year; DOE
Essential Duties
Work with the Communications Specialist and Director of Career Services to plan, develop, and implement a social media strategy and messaging to connect with multiple audiences. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Creates and maintains visible professional presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, ASU Family Hub, and other social media platforms.
- Creates frequent posts to various social media websites.
- Ensure timeliness of all information, and coordinate content updates with affiliated unit stakeholders and other units.
- Monitors Career Services social media sites.
- Utilizes social media monitoring tools and analyzes data to provide detailed analysis documents that trend social media performance.
- Monitors the social media landscape and related trends through seminars, research, blogging, etc.
- Provides daily/weekly updates of the status of Career Services social media environment. Develops best practices, recommends rules of engagement and innovative initiatives for the use of various digital/social/mobile media.
- Researches relevant social media content and keeps up to date with ongoing social media changes and innovations.
- Assist in the creation of video content, to be used on social media platforms, and other platforms as appropriate.
- Researches and develops brand specific content for posting including items directly related to ASU Career Services.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, IT, Finance, Marketing or related field and two years of related experience OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms and practices.
- Experience with photography and/or videography preferred
- Experience in strategic communication planning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, concepts, and practices of project management.
- Experience in best practices of communication and marketing methods and techniques.
- Evidence of effective communication;
- Experience in oral/written/media presentation.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Google Drive and Dropbox shared team drives.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with unit leaders, staff, teams, and community members
- Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically Photoshop and InDesign a plus
- Evidence of having a strong service orientation, a disciplined work ethic and commitment to a high standard of excellence; Nimble, and flexible with the ability to adapt to the needs of the organization with ease and creativity
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals
