Social scientist for women’s rights and peace work (m/f/x)

AGIAMONDO is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service (CPS), we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The CPS is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It works for a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Colombia, AGIAMONDO wants to contribute to the civil conflict resolution there and to the sustainable and just development of the country through peacebuilding measures.

Die Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres ist eine soziale Frauenbewegung in Kolumbien, die als nationales Netzwerk mit territorialer Verankerung organisiert ist. Die Organisation setzt sich aus einer feministischen Perspektive für die Stärkung von Frauen ein, um ihre politische Teilhabe zu fördern und sich wirksam für friedensschaffende Prozesse einzusetzen. Ihr Ziel ist die Beseitigung aller Formen von Gewalt gegen Frauen und die effektive Umsetzung des Rechts auf Wahrheit, Gerechtigkeit und Wiedergutmachung für weibliche Opfer des bewaffneten Konflikts. Angesichts der überproportionalen und genderspezifischen Auswirkungen von Konflikten und Gewalt auf Frauen leistet Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres einen wichtigen Beitrag, um Frauenrechte zu verteidigen.

To support our partner organization, we are looking for the next possible date a Social scientist for women’s rights and peace work (m/f/x).

 Your tasks

• You support remembrance policy activities in various regions of Colombia. This includes the development of methods and products for remembrance work with a focus on women’s rights and the role of women as peace actors, taking into account ethnic and local aspects.
• You create scientific documents and carry out political advocacy work in the areas of transitional justice and peace work.
• You document the voices, perspectives, proposals and needs of women in different working regions.
• You represent Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres in relevant committees of the peace process and actively support the successful implementation of this process.
• You will be responsible for the proper spending and administration of funds on the ground in accordance with donor guidelines and AGIAMONDO’s specifications. You will work in partnership with Ruta Pacífica de las Mujeres.

 

 

Your profile

• You have a university degree (at least Master’s level) in a social science or humanities subject. Ideally with a focus on human or women’s rights and very good academic writing skills.
• You have at least 2 years of professional experience in Latin America.
• You have experience in working with women in contexts of conflict or violence.
• You have experience in political advocacy work and knowledge of special jurisdictions, international law and human rights.
• Your written and spoken Spanish is very good and your English is at least good.
• You are committed to the goals and concerns of church development and peace work.
• You are an EU citizen or Swiss national.
