Emma Organization for Human Development is non-profit organization established in 2013 in Erbil, the program of Emma organization is concentrating on Capacity building and awareness-raising of governmental and nongovernmental human resources in the field of GBV, awareness-raising on gender equality and human rights issues, enhancing women participation in decision making and peace building, Rehabilitation and trauma healing programs for trauma survivors.
Since June 2014, Emma has mainly been working with IDPs, specifically Yazidi women survivors of conflict related SGBV
Summary of Job:
The Social Worker will provide direct support and services to beneficiaries of Emma Organization. This role involves assessing client needs, developing intervention plans, providing counseling, and connecting beneficiaries with resources. The Social Worker will work closely with individuals affected by issues related to SGBV (Sexual and Gender-Based Violence) to promote their well-being and advocate for their rights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Member of a mobile team regularly visiting the targeted area making assessments through special intake form and encourage them to participate in the community center and project activities.
- Participation in weekly multidisciplinary staff meeting and discussion all the cases in weekly team meeting for making assessments through special intake form of social workers to make an individual plan .
- Follow- up the progress of the cases and individual plan through accurate records and preparing weekly and monthly reports.
- Present cases to the community center team leader (case Manger) and refer cases to the psychiatrist for assessment, screening and treatment if needed
- Provide a proper advice and support to individual who are experienced personal difficulties.
- Assessing success through writing clients stories at least one case monthly.
- Liaising to the target community on SGBV and gender based violence for example conducting seminars or workshops relevant to the project.
- Offer general information and counseling support to the clients and make referrals to community center, NGO and local authorities.
- Conduct additional and other duties assigned by team leader.
- Consult and provide support to clients and their families.
- Participating in relevant trainings and meetings relevant to the project
- Working in a confidential setting and documentation and filling of the clients file.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of beneficiaries’ needs and strengths.
- Provide emotional support, counseling, and crisis intervention.
- Connect beneficiaries with appropriate resources and services, including legal, medical, and psychological support.
- Assist beneficiaries in navigating complex systems to access necessary services.
- Advocate for beneficiaries’ rights and needs within the community and with service providers.
- Work to reduce barriers and challenges faced by beneficiaries in accessing services.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of programs and activities that support the organization’s mission.
- Facilitate support groups, workshops, and educational sessions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all beneficiaries’ interactions and services provided.
- Prepare regular reports on client progress and outcomes.
- Collaborate with other staff members and external partners to coordinate services and support for beneficiaries.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and service providers.
- Stay informed about best practices and developments in social work, women empowerment, human rights, and SGBV.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology. Master Degree is preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in providing psychotherapy or counseling field.
- Fluency in Kurdish and Arabic Languages, Basic Knowledge on English Language is an advantage.
- Fair knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook).
- Strong assessment and counseling skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to develop effective intervention plans.
- Knowledge of community resources and services.
