Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights is a charitable organization supporting survivors of human rights violations, defending fundamental freedoms, and promoting democratic values. Our programs provide mental health services, medical treatment, and other support services to survivors of trauma, terror, domestic violence, and human rights violations in Iraq and Syria.
For the implementation of our human rights education and dialogue projects, we are seeking applicants for the following position:
Position: Social Worker
Status: Full-time employee (40 Hours/Week)
Based: Alqosh, Iraq
Required Degree: Bachelor’s Degree.
Reports to: Center Manager (CM) Alqosh, Clinic Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Casework
Interviewing clients about their needs, living conditions and social problems
Developing together with the client an assistance plan and identifying adequate social services
Implementing the plan and monitoring its progress
Counseling
Problem-specific assessment
Contacting and making referrals to other agencies and services
Individual sessions to strengthen coping and decision-making
Empowerment
Prepares, implements, and evaluates non-clinical activities for beneficiaries, such as awareness-raising on mental health and social problems, the introduction of Jiyan services, self-help groups, information events, or psychoeducation
Coordination
Regularly participates in meetings with other social workers across centers
Administrative tasks
Service documentation and evaluation, record keeping of client assessments
Regularly reports to management and the Head of Trauma Care and Health
Representation and networking
Represents Jiyan Foundation for Human Rights to external stakeholders and participates in meetings or events related to social work
Continuously works on building and maintaining networks with other local organizations, partners, and stakeholders for collaboration and referrals
Carry out any other relevant duties according to the professional capacities and position in the organization as assigned by the line manager in mutual agreement.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
REQUIREMENTS
Excellent Kurdish and English skills (listening, speaking, and writing); Arabic is an advantage.
University degree in Sociology;
One year of work experience in related fields;
Basic knowledge of MS Office and data entry;
Ability to travel, including multi-day trips both nationally and internationally;
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, and cooperate with other staff members, centers, and external partners;
Active interest in promoting human rights and social justice

Paid holidays (24 days for the full-time position) plus 15 statutory holidays. Additional paid holidays, especially on the occasion of religious festivals, may be agreed upon
