Hope Makers Organization for Woman is a local, women-led organization that seeks to support Yezidi women and the Yezidi community in Sinjar. Established in 2016, HMOW has a history of providing Mental Health Support and Suicide Prevention services among other services that seek to support the community to build resilience and to recover.

Since the beginning of HMOW inception, its main goal was to support women and girls who are survivors of ISIS and survivors of gender-based violence in general, it focused mainly on providing safe spaces for them to be able to know themselves and overcome all that they faced through women’s help to each other and through several psychological activities.

Hope Makers organization for Women works to improve the psychological conditions of women and reintegrate them into society so that they are decision makers and can dream again and create a better future.

Our vision is to create a safe community for Yezidi women and girls, and to combat gender-based violence and discrimination by creating an environment where Yezidi women and girls are supported and respected.  HMOW strives to create an environment where all women are empowered to be their own advocates and agents of change.

Our Mission is is to create a world where all Yezidi women and girls, are safe, respected, and valued. With a commitment to this goal, the organisation will continue to work to raise awareness and knowledge about violence against women, and create a future where equality for women is a reality.

 

Overall Pourps

The Social Worker is responsible for providing case management and psychosocial support to survivors and individuals at risk of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This role involves conducting intake interviews, carrying out comprehensive assessments, developing tailored case plans, and providing continuous emotional support. The Social Worker ensures the confidentiality and proper documentation of each case while maintaining professional relationships with service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Case Management and Intake:

  • Conduct case management intake interviews with survivors or individuals at risk of GBV identified through outreach work or referred by other agencies.
  • Open a case if the individual meets the vulnerability criteria.

Comprehensive Assessments:

  • Perform thorough assessments considering emotional, behavioural, and social factors impacting the individual’s psychosocial well-being.
  • Assess protection and risk factors after obtaining the individual’s consent.

Case Planning and Implementation:

  • Develop a tailored case plan in collaboration with the survivor, based on the needs identified during the assessment.
  • Refer the survivor to appropriate services and, if necessary, accompany them to service providers.

Emotional Support and Counseling:

  • Provide ongoing basic emotional support and counselling through regular follow-up meetings.
  • Establish a trust-based relationship while respecting confidentiality protocols.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Document each case weekly on the internal case management platform.
  • Record any progress on the action plan and significant changes in the client’s psychosocial well-being and overall situation.
  • Ensure proper and safe filing and archiving of case management files to maintain data confidentiality.

Case Closure:

  • Close a case when the objectives in the case plan are met and no further needs are identified.

Adherence to Protection Principles:

  • Respect key protection principles, including but not limited to PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability, and need-to-know principles.

Coordination and Reporting:

  • Participate in internal case management meetings.
  • Bring any case of special/emergency needs to the immediate attention of the supervising Case Manager.
  • Ensure good relationships and coordination with main service providers in the intervention area.
  • Identify and report gaps in the availability and quality of services for clients in the target areas.

Training and Supervision:

  • Supervise training courses and processes.

Ensure effective documentation and attendance tracking for beneficiaries.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Knowledge and skills

  • GBV case management.
  • Experience working in emergency or conflict settings.
  • Knowledge of local service providers and referral systems.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Data management skills
  • Strong understanding of MHPSS principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
