About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong’s CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.
Social Workers at Barwon Health work across a diverse range of the Health areas including acute, sub-acute and community based program areas in a number of campuses of Barwon Health and require clinical knowledge and skills relevant to working as a clinician in a health setting. The social work clinician will have an awareness and understanding of the health service environment and be skilled at working in a multidisciplinary team. Some parts of our service work across a 7 day a week roster. These roles can work across both the University Hospital Geelong campus and the McKellar Centre campus.
About the role
This permanent full time position is based within the Women’s and Children’s Team at University Hospital Geelong. The Women’s and Children’s Team is a supportive team of specialist Social Workers.
The successful applicant will be a Women’s and Children’s Social Worker, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, social workers and other . The successful applicant will have:
- Sound assessment skills and an understanding of working with vulnerable families.
- Knowledge and experience in working with family violence, children at risk, mental health and community support services would be an advantage.
- AASW accredited Bachelor Degree or entry level Master’s Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers required.
