Purpose of the Role
The Soft Skills Trainer will design and deliver interactive training sessions in Kirkuk for diverse audiences, including entry-level professionals, mid-career staff, and community participants. The trainer will adapt content and delivery to local cultural and linguistic contexts, ensuring sessions are practical, engaging, and outcome-oriented.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver soft skills training sessions in Kurdish and Arabic to groups of varying sizes and backgrounds.
- Develop and adapt training materials, presentations, handouts, and exercises aligned with Smithson’s training standards and brand style.
- Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure participant learning and progress.
- Facilitate interactive methodologies including role-plays, group work, case studies, and simulations.
- Provide individual coaching and feedback to participants where required.
- Prepare training reports, attendance records, and evaluation summaries after each session.
- Coordinate with Smithson’s project and logistics teams on scheduling, venues, and participant communication.
- Represent Smithson professionally with clients, partners, and participants in Kirkuk.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, human resources, social sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience delivering soft skills or professional development training.
- Full professional fluency in Kurdish and Arabic (spoken and written) is mandatory; working knowledge of English is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to design participatory, adult-learning-based training sessions.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and group management skills.
- Familiarity with the Kirkuk context and ability to work with mixed-background audiences.
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word) for materials preparation and reporting.
Desirable
- Training of Trainers (ToT) certification.
- Experience working with NGOs, UN agencies, or donor-funded programmes.
- Experience conducting training needs assessments.
