Duties and Responsibilities

This is to develop and support the external facing portals, applications of the UN. This also involves maintenance and enhancement of different Systems . – Design and develop assigned projects to meet the dates and objectives using knowledge of the complete development life cycle. – Apply in-depth knowledge of NodeJS and React, SQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Visual Studio Code, Web Services, XML, etc. – Design data model/working with relational databases, i.e., Azure Cosmos/NoSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL – Use Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure services not limited to Azure functions, AWS Lamda, Azure Service bus, etc to address the various requirements. – Carry out assignments and technical tasks in collaboration with a cross-functional team of developers, DBA, business analysts, and quality assurance staff. – Use the user stories in Azure DevOps and convert those to Software Modules. – Represent the team in a professional manner while communicating with the customers. – Participate in the preparation of documents related to project development. – Ensure that the service provided adheres to the operational standards for quality and timeliness. 1). The consultant follows the work hours in the time zone of the UN Office in Bangkok 2). The consultant has 10 paid UN holidays per calendar year, following the calendar of the UN Office in Bangkok

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Computer Science or Engineering is required. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. 3 yrs. of Software development experience in the development and support of web application projects. Exposure or knowledge in any one of the skills – Azure Cosmos or NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL Proficient in any of the following frameworks/languages such as NodeJS and React, SQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
