We are one of Australia’s largest and most experienced carbon farming project developers. This includes more than 160 projects with farmers, plantation managers, agribusiness, and Indigenous groups on carbon farming projects.
Climate Friendly has delivered over 20Mt in carbon abatement as at the end of 2020. Our immediate mission is to establish partnerships, by 2025, that will store or reduce 150Mt of CO2-e, while repairing nature and supporting reconciliation. The role
Our Technical Innovation Hub delivers cutting-edge technology to support high quality and cost-effective carbon projects. The team focuses on:
- Advancing industry leadership position through technology innovations and new technical product development, high quality analytics and automation of workflow.
- Enhancing spatial and non-spatial data accessibility and system integration for internal and external customers to inform best practice project design, monitoring and implementation
As Software Engineer, you will work in product teams with product owners, domain specialists and other developers to deliver a range of critical business applications. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development of applications through the entire software lifecycle, including development, bug fixing, testing and code review, documentation, production upgrades and feature rollouts, data migrations, etc. (We use GitHub for code and bug tracking)
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain critical business solutions.
- Developing and maintaining a PostgreSQL database and integrate across our growing suite of technical systems alongside senior database specialists
- Building and enabling tools to provide comprehensive management of data, including access controls, for a range of technical and non-technical staff.
- Contributing to the development of innovative solutions for greenfield projects that align with our sustainability objectives.
- Participating in the full software development lifecycle, from requirement gathering to deployment and maintenance.
- Collaborating with senior engineers to solve technical challenges and gain valuable experience.
- Contributing to front-end and back-end development processes
- Performing tests, troubleshooting software, and fixing bugs
This opportunity is being recruited as an initial fixed term contract until 30th June 2025.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, React, Node
- Experience in back-end application development using languages such as Java, Python, and/or Javascript (nodejs)
- Experience with database design, writing queries on complex data models and scripting stored procedures and database functions.
- Experience integrating with external APIs.
- Exposure to building modern web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks (e.g. Angular, React)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
