About us 

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and every day civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

About the role

You will lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the Regional Office to ensure the efficient and effective use of resources and delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of clients and the community.

You will develop key relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the private profession, legal assistance providers and the courts, and conduct a legal practice as other priorities permit. 

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced solicitor with extensive people management experience who is able to ensure a positive workplace culture that promotes respect, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion. You will lead and supervise legal and non-legal staff from difference practice backgrounds within the office and manage key stakeholder relationships in the region..

You will be committed to delivering excellent service for clients and be able to demonstrate experience in leadership and managing organisational change and effective communication with teams and staff. You will contribute to the professional development of staff through supervision, guidance and mentoring.

You will be skilled at monitoring and analysing service data to evaluate and improve office efficiency and performance in a multi-practice Regional office. 

We may use this recruitment to create a talent pool for similar ongoing or temporary vacancies we have over the next 18 months.

The essential requirements for this role

You must:

  • be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
  • be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us
  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check
  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
  • hold valid NSW Drivers licence

You will be required to provide your Working With Children Check details prior to commencement in any role requiring the check.
