GGGI is committed to supporting the Solomon Islands in achieving climate resilience and sustainable development through green growth initiatives. GGGI has been operating in the Solomon Islands since 2019 and has so far completed 9 projects with 7 currently ongoing which are all geared to meet this objective. These projects were and are all part of GGGI’s Pacific regional projects with subcomponents for Solomon Islands.
In May 2024, GGGI initiated its first national project, the Climate Resilience Green Growth (CRGG) project, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDMM) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as the donor partner. The proposed project which replicates the CRGG model in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and other GGGI member and partner countries will have four components/outcomes which are:
The CRGG project will be implemented in two phases; phase1 will involve stakeholder consultations and design, and phase 2 will involve implementation.
The objective of this consultancy is to integrate Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) considerations into the design phase of the Climate Resilient Green Growth (CRGG) project in the Solomon Islands. The consultant will ensure that the benefits of green growth, climate finance, and investments are equitably shared among all segments of the population, including women, people with disabilities, and poor and marginalized groups.
The purpose of this consultancy is to enhance the inclusivity and equity of the CRGG project design by embedding GEDSI principles. This will involve undertaking necessary stakeholder consultations, conducting a thorough gender analysis and assessment, and developing baseline data to inform the GEDSI component of the Initial Design Document (IDD), including the GEDSI Action Plan (GAP).
The GEDSI consultant will report to the Country Representative and work with the project team will undertake the following tasks:
