As part of an exciting and ambitious digital transformation, the University of Surrey is seeking a Solutions Architect to play a key role in shaping the technological landscape to support our academic and administrative functions.

With a primary focus on aligning innovative solutions with the University’s strategic goals, business challenges and architectural principles, this role involves collaborating closely with stakeholders across various departments, bridging the gap between concept and implementation.

Role & Responsibilities:   

You’ll be responsible for crafting robust architectural designs, leveraging industry and University best practices, and ensuring that the technology infrastructure aligns seamlessly with our evolving needs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define solution goals, develop non-functional requirements, formulate initial solution proposals, and complete comprehensive solution designs.
  • Evaluate the IT implications, technical feasibility, risks, costs, and resource needs associated with different solution alternatives.
  • Driving the integration of cloud-based services, data analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the overall experience for all stakeholders.
  • Design, document, promote and initiate the implementation of the IT aspects of the solution, ensuring that appropriate standards are applied and processes are followed, engaging colleagues and users to ensure satisfaction and benefits realisation.
  • Communicate the proposed solution to the project manager and delivery team, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the architectural design, functionality, and implementation requirements.
