Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI’s interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
About the mission
The Finance Specialist will provide leadership in developing tools, such as budget templates, for successfully managing the two consortia budget and providing financial analysis of the projects’ performance to inform decision-making processes. As a member of the lead implementing agency, the Finance Specialist will work with partner agencies (TGH, MC, PUI, Concern Worldwide and DCD – a local NGO) and will oversee the coordination of reporting that adheres to all agencies’ financial protocols. S/he will also follow partners’ payments.
As Finance Specialist for the Consortia, he/she is responsible for guaranteeing the financial balance of the project and for ensuring that all Solidarités International procedures and donor procedures are respected.
S/he is the financial point of reference for the Consortium, and the link between headquarters and the partners for all matters relating to accounting and budget monitoring.
S/he can support in the compilation and drafting of the budget for any budget modification, co/no-cost extension and other project modifications.

The main challenges:
The position and Consortium unit is new, and most processes need to be streamlined or improved.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
Establish a workflow internally and with the consortia’s partners;
Improve and set-up internal and external financial reporting templates
Security : Level 2 in NDJ, Level 4 on the field.
SI WILL OFFER YOU
According to experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 750.
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate’s country of origin and the place of assignment.
Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.
Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
Good living conditions in NDJ, with a decent guesthouse. WiFi is limited by data are working well. Social life is very good but cultural life a bit more limited. The heat and health can be more challenging.

A Bachelor or Master’s degree in a related area.
Experience in the humanitarian sector : 3-4 years
A first experience on similar position would be an asset.
Specific skills and experience:
- Experience in supporting the production of quality financial reporting (compilation and analysis)
- Good Excel, SAGA skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to work on tight deadlines
Language:
1. Fluency in written and oral English is mandatory
2. Arabic is an asset
3. French is a definite asset
