This role sits within our Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate. A highly ambitious and professional team who are working to grow income and strengthen our voice across the UK, as the leading end-of-life care charity in the UK.Your role in our mission…Philanthropy & Partnerships (P&P) plays a key role in the Fundraising Division. P&P looks to identify, develop and sustain bespoke partnerships, putting our high value audience front and centre, to drive income, awareness and influence for Marie Curie’s mission. P&P is responsible for raising £11million from our most generous high-value supporters, including individuals, charitable trusts, companies, statutory sources and high-profile Special Events.We are seeking a Special Events Lead to join our forward-thinking Special Events team who as part of P&P, create, manage and deliver an impactful and effective events programme consisting of more than 10 exclusive events per year. These cumulatively raise over £2 million with an ambition to significantly grow income over the next five years. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Events Manager working in a busy, high-pressure environment, working on multiple events at different stages of planning.As a member of the Special Events fundraising team, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating, managing and delivering a portfolio of high value committee and corporate led special events. This is a key role which underpins everything that the team does to raise income, influence and awareness and supports the wider P&P vision.The ideal candidate will be a strong operational Events Manager with extensive, experience of having organised multiple high-profile events.Additional Criteria for Success:

  • Demonstrable project management experience. With ability to set and monitor budgets.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure, to prioritise activities, focus on details and meet multiple competing deadlines in a complex environment.
  • Ability to influence others with communication skills – both written and verbal. Adept at building relationships with diverse teams and working collaboratively with co-workers, volunteers and donors.
  • High level of IT literacy including familiarity with web search engines, plus an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Results orientated with a proactive attitude, positive outlook, high level of energy, enthusiasm and dedication to the mission and goals of Marie Curie.
  • Line management experience (desirable)
