About the Role

As the Specialist Family Violence Practitioner, you will be an integral part of the response team for victim-survivors in VincentCare’s Marian Community. You will contribute to a 24/7 on-call roster, supporting a complex caseload and providing targeted support to clients who require assistance for domestic and family violence.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing intensive crisis case management to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence;
  • Contributing to an after-hours on-call roster;
  • Promoting an in-depth understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality in family violence, and the nature, dynamics, and impact of family violence across a range of familial relationships;
  • Ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory frameworks.

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for this position, you will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, or other equivalent qualifications/experience as outlined in Recommendation 209.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the intersectionality in family violence, and the nature, dynamics and impact of family violence across a broad range of familial relationships. You have a genuine passion for supporting people, and your warm and empathetic demeanour will forge strong professional relationships with a variety of individuals.

More specifically, you will have:

  • Experience (minimum 3–5 years) within the family violence response and case management sector;
  • Demonstrated intake and assessment experience and knowledge of trauma-informed approaches;
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to management conflict and challenging behaviours;
  • An understanding of issues affecting people in crisis who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness;
  • And ability to provide holistic responses to address complex needs;
  • Ability to take initiative, act with confidence and exercise sound judgement;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
