Organizational Setting

The objective of the project is to identify policies, programs and actions for rural women implemented in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the spaces for interaction between civil society and governments that discuss these initiatives from a perspective of international cooperation, in order to identify strategies to advance the process of institutionalization of policies for rural women and promoters of gender equality, necessary for the reduction of regional inequalities, which are established in the economic, social, cultural and generational context in rural areas.

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil

Technical Focus

Contribute to the consolidation of the productive and socioeconomic organization of family farming in Brazil, through the implementation of innovative and priority actions in the formulation of national public policies.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the implementation of policies for rural women and equality policy between women and men within the scope of the strategic objectives and initiatives of the Brazilian government.
• Collect information and systematize Brazilian and Latin American initiatives aimed at the production and analysis of data on rural women.
• Participate, in person or by videoconference, in meetings in regional institutional spaces, such as REAF, which discuss policies and actions for rural women, with a view to aggregating data for the elaboration of consultancy products.
• Participate in meetings with the project coordination team, object of this term of reference.
• Accompany the project’s technical team in official missions or in internal and external meetings aiming to collect data/information for the elaboration of the consulting products.
• Participate in meetings, face-to-face and/or by videoconference, to monitor the activities and/or present the products provided for in the assignment.
• To make technical contributions (document review, research, data analysis, production of reports) in support of the production of case studies and comparative analyses of public policies that contribute to the development of public policies, with a focus on rural women, implemented in Brazil and in other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Carry out the exchange of experiences on the theme of rural women within the scope of cooperation.
• To map and systematize experiences of women’s organization (production, commercialization and innovation and access to technologies of rural women) and economic, as well as to report on the innovative good practices of women’s social organization.
• Propose follow-up and training processes with a view to the empowerment of rural women and their impact on political decision-making spaces.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:

Minimum Requirements

• University degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in Human Sciences or Social Sciences or Specialization or Master’s Degree or Ph.D., according to the table of knowledge areas of CAPES/CNPq
• In case of having a Bachelor’s degree, at least 08 (eight) years of experience in international cooperation, foreign investments, market access and productive inclusion. In case of having specialization, 06 (six) years of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master’s degree, 05 (five) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a Ph.D., 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas.
• Working knowledge (level C) of Portuguese and English or Spanish.
• Brazilian Nationality or other legally authorized to work in Brazil.
