Position Summary
IHP is seeking a Specialist-Outreach with knowledge of and experience with behavioral health care policy and health care delivery to function as Senior Advisor for IHP and MSU health colleges.
Position will work collaboratively with IHP and health colleges leadership on strategic planning to support growth and expansion as well as cultivate/maintain multi-stakeholder relationships to acquire/manage externally funded behavioral health policy projects. The Senior Advisor will design and forecast implications of local, state and federal behavioral health policies to health insurers, professional associations, community stakeholders and patient advocacy groups; promote the transfer of information, knowledge and expertise from the University to state, local and community agencies involved with behavioral health delivery sector regarding policy planning and review; recruit relevant stakeholders and subjects regarding behavioral health policy demonstrations and pilots; contribute to non-credit educational modules for public and private health sectors regarding behavioral health policy issues; consult regarding behavioral health-related regulatory requirements/recommendations; convene health field executive leadership for statewide health policy forecasting and discussion; represent college/unit at health policy legislative sessions; provide leadership and coordination in the development, execution, monitoring and reporting of service/outreach programs; develop and/or participate with behavioral health policy related education sessions, contribute with IHP units to support student scholarly activities with health colleges as requested.

Required Degree
Masters -Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Higher Education or related field
Desired Degree
Doctorate -Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Higher Education or related field
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Health Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Higher Education or related field.
- Minimum ten years of experience in health organization executive leadership.
- Minimum fifteen years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public health administration, health policy, grant writing, program evaluation and policy development
Desired Qualifications
Minimum of fifteen to twenty years of behavioral health industry experience; supervisory/managerial experience including budget development and oversight; association management; network development; and demonstrated ability to implement and manage broad-scope, complex projects involving multiple public and private sector agencies. Demonstrated excellence with interpersonal and communication skills. Experience with drafting/implementing behavioral health policy.

IHP supports a hybrid remote work schedule. Four days each month are worked in the offices on the East Lansing campus.
