Position description

Do something that matters and get extraordinary global work experience in a full-service, progressive public relations agency based in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. We are looking for a college graduate with two years of earned media and communications work experience with a nonprofit, campaign, public relations agency or news media organization.

Enjoy excellent benefits such as a flexible, hybrid work schedule, annual well-being stipend, company profit share contributions and a generous company match on your 401k retirement contributions.

You will work on tackling solutions to global health diseases like malaria, TB, HIV and neglected tropical diseases, as well as public health issues in the U.S. like overdoses, climate change, respiratory viruses and biosecurity.

Rated by Washingtonian Magazine and the Washington Post as one of the best places to work, we are seeking a motivated, organized and creative person to join our global practice serving well-known nonprofits, foundations and advocacy campaigns addressing the most important issues of our time.

Be part of a collaborative team that produces communications strategies, media events and promotions, op-eds and other written products, media trainings, fast-response media outreach, risk-communications research and advice, and digital media.

  • Go deep on content and be the “eyes and ears” of client projects — from tracking emails to monitoring relevant news.
  • Master knowledge about what journalists cover across the US public health and global health space through media research and analysis.
  • Be part of teams developing stories through research and interviews to craft compelling media materials and, in the process, develop a “nose for news” and improve your writing skills.
  • Work globally with colleagues, clients and partners in Africa, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
  • Correspond with journalists through media promotions and ultimately develop relationships with reporters with top media outlets and trade publications, such as STAT, Global HealthNOW, NPR, CNN, Guardian, Nature, Politico, Reuters, and Washington Post to draw attention to world-changing research and developments.
  • Get creative and help make various types of digital content that is on-brand, optimized for each platform and creative enough to stand out in constantly-moving feeds and overcrowded inboxes.

Qualifications

  • Based in D.C.-metropolitan area or be willing to relocate.
  • BA/BS (communications, journalism, international relations preferred).
  • One-two years of earned media or communications work experience with a nonprofit, campaign, public relations agency or news media organization.
  • Strong analysis and research skills.
  • Knowledge of digital communications and social media platforms and some experience creating digital content
  • Experience using databases like Muck Rack, Constant Contact; project management systems like Asana; and email marketing services like Mailchimp; comfort with Microsoft Office.

Salary range starts at $63,000.
