Sr. Media Relations Specialist

Enhances the image and reputation of the university by coordinating media communications and providing counsel and guidance to administrators and faculty in assigned areas. Supports web and new media initiatives aimed at advancing the university’s Tier One goals and secures media placements in local, state and national media outlets and publications.

Mentors junior staff members, interns and student workers. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications: 
Excellent editorial judgment as well as writing and editing skills. Preference for candidates with proficiency using AP Style.
Experience using media-monitoring software for media outreach and understanding the data to optimize performance, adjust strategy and create reports.
Exceptional proficiency in digital communication platforms and tools, with a proven ability to quickly adapt to and master new software applications for efficient workflow and collaboration.
A strong commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and trends in the digital communication landscape to ensure our strategies remain cutting-edge and effective.

Bachelors and 7 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
