Title Sr. MSW Program Director – Indianapolis
Appointment Status Tenure Track
Department IUPUI School of Social Work
Location Indianapolis
Position Summary Eligibility: Current Indiana University School of Social Work tenure track faculty
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) is accepting applications for Senior MSW Program Director, a 12-month faculty administrative position starting in July 2024. This is an internal search; the position is open to IUSSW internal candidates only.
The Senior MSW Program Director serves two roles for the IUSSW. This individual has oversight over the MSW program and MSW Direct program across all IUSSW campuses and will be expected to collaborate with all MSW Program Directors to ensure consistency in program policies, curriculum, and student supports across all IUSSW campuses in alignment with the CSWE accreditation standards for master’s programs. In addition, this position provides collaborative leadership and administrative coordination for the MSW and MSW Direct program at IUPUI, including recruitment, advisement, and support of MSW students matriculating on the IUPUI campus and online, and recruitment and support of associate faculty for the MSW and MSW Direct program at IUPUI. The person in this role will also participate in service activities such as the IUSSW MSW Curriculum Committee, MSW Directors Committee, Program Review and Assessment Committee, and other relevant school, campus, university, or community committees or groups as required. It is expected that the individual will continue advancing their research and scholarship. Teaching is not required, although the Senior MSW Program Director is eligible for overload or summer teaching on an as-needed basis.
The Senior MSW Program Director operationally reports directly to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The person in this role will also work collaboratively with the other IUSSW program directors including the Director of Admissions, Director of Career Services, Director of Field Education, Director of Recruitment, the Assistant Dean for student success, and the Assistant Dean for Diversity Affairs to assure compliance with all processes and procedures of the IUSSW. As a tenure track faculty member, the individual reports to the Dean, with input from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, for purposes of annual review and movement toward promotion and tenure.
As the state’s premier urban research institution, IUPUI is committed to being a welcoming campus community that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence. We seek candidates who will not only enhance our representational diversity but whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty. IUPUI condemns racism in all its forms and has taken an anti-racist stance that moves beyond mere statements to interrogating its policies, procedures, and practices. We hope to identify individuals who will assist in our mission to dismantle racism so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed at IUPUI.
Basic Qualifications Essential qualifications for the Senior MSW Program Director include an earned doctorate in social work or related field, an MSW and a minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience, and at least three years of experience in a social work education setting. Applicants should be a tenure track faculty member in the IUSSW. Additional requirements include: command of CSWE accreditation standards, demonstrated excellence in public relations, excellent written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated skill in curriculum development and academic program monitoring and evaluation.
