Mission and objectives

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s strategic plan (2022-2025), reaffirms the relevance of the current strategic direction of UNFPA and focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. These results capture our strategic commitments on accelerating progress towards realizing the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and SDGs in the Decade of Action leading up to 2030.

Context

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. UNFPA expands choices and opportunities for women and youth to lead healthy and productive lives. Our work is derived from the ICPD Programme of Action; that all human beings are entitled to equal rights and protections and no one should be left behind in the fulfilment of their fundamental human rights. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical leaders, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.
UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022-2025), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices.
UNFPA’s Humanitarian Response Division – Programme Support Unit (HRD-PSU) works to mainstream the integration of SRH and GBV in humanitarian programming by: leading on advancing new initiatives, including Values Clarification and Attitude Transformation (VCAT); ensuring that frontline health workers are trained and supported to provide quality Clinical Management of Rape and Intimate Partner Violence (CMR-IPV) services; supporting country offices to pilot innovative programmeming that integrates SRH and GBV in humanitarian contexts: and co-leading the SRH-GBV Linkages Sub-Group (SG-7) of the SRH Task Team and the IAWG CMR-IPV sub-working group.
UNFPA seeks candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results. We need UNVs who are exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.
The SRH-GBV Integration Volunteer will work closely with the Nairobi-based Global Humanitarian SRH Advisor to advance these goals within UNFPA’s humanitarian programming and through inter-agency fora.
