We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientistto support our efforts in cardiac proteomics and cardiac molecular studies to commence 1 July 2024.

Our research

We pursue research to identify proteins and cells involved in molecular cardiac pathology. Our research projects are multidisciplinary and are as such anchored-on team efforts. We are strongly connected with local and international collaborators, predominantly basic scientists from academia, but also clinicians and scientists from industry. Our group has a diverse composition with regards to internationalization, gender and age.

Your job

You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on molecular regulation in the heart.

Your tasks will be

  • to be responsible for isolation of primary cardiomyocytes
  • perform and train students in various proteomics samples preparations, including TMT tagging and peptide fractionation
  • to maintain primary cardiac cell cultures
  • to perform western blots, immunoprecipitations and imaging experiments

You will be expected to contribute to and support the ongoing research projects in the group on an ad hoc basis when needed; disseminate your expertise to new lab members and support the lab management.

Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:

Essential experience and skills

  • A PhD in life sciences or a related field is a benefit
  • You are FELASA licensed
  • You have documented experience in handling primary cardiac cells
  • You have documented experience in proteomics sample preparations
  • You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project 
  • Good English skills, written and spoken

Desirable experience and skills

  • Experience and knowledge in software tools such as MaxQuant or FragPipe
  • Experience in programming in either R or Python
  • Collegial, service-minded and helpful

Place of employment

The place of employment is at Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of employment

The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 4 years. The starting date is 1 July 2024.

Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
