A IIIM internship is unpaid and full time. For this internship flexible core working hours,
Monday to Friday from 10h00-16h00 will be required. The duration and modality may be
adjusted upon request of the successful candidate.
Expected duration
6 months to start on 2 April 2024
Duties and Responsibilities
The position of Staff Wellbeing and Engagement Intern is located in the Operational Support Section (OSS) of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism to Assist in the Investigation and Prosecution of Persons Responsible for the Most Serious Crimes under International Law Committed in the Syrian Arab Republic since March 2011 (IIIM), located in Geneva, Switzerland.

The OSS is responsible for ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of victims and witnesses is not adversely affected due to their cooperation with the Mechanism. The Staff Wellbeing and Engagement Intern will work under the supervision of the Witness Support Officer (WSO), assisting in implementing preventive measures for staff who interact with victims, witnesses, and graphic materials.

The duties of the Staff Wellbeing and Engagement Intern include, but are not limited to:
– Assisting in implementation of the trauma-informed care IIIM Action Plan for 2024.
– Assisting in implementation of the Staff Well-being and Positive Employee Experience initiative.
– Conducting research on best practices of support to staff and prevention of vicarious trauma.
– Assisting in design and implementation of focus-group discussion on staff well-being.
– Drafting meeting minutes.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Interested candidates must be pursuing or pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening – e.g. Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Clinical Psychology.

experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Is your field of study in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related branch of psychology?
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
The ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
A demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural background and beliefs, which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of different opinions and views is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
