About the opportunity

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) is one of the oldest and most prestigious music schools in Australia. It is a distinctive part of Sydney’s arts and educational nucleus. The SCM is renowned for its exceptional commitment to music, innovative programs and partnership programs with Australia’s major music organisations. Since its inception in 1915, the Conservatorium has played an important role in shaping Sydney’s cultural identity.

The Stage Production Coordinator is responsible for the management of a small supporting team within opera production and musical theatre, the day-to-day coordination of faculty led performances/ concerts, and production management for events both within opera and as allocated. Other aspects of this role requires relationship management across a broad range of stakeholders and is heavily reliant on time management abilities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide specific event and opera production services within the SCM and other external venues

  • coordinate day to day Faculty specific event production services, providing logisitical and technical support in opera productions and orchestral ensemble activities

  • lead the delivery of daily administration activities and services, implementing modifications and streamline processes

  • maintain record keeping, and financial/accounting support, including payment and invoice management

  • ensure the SCM productions are compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/ or equivalent training or experience

  • Significant experience in production management for staged musical productions such as opera

  • significant experience providing stage management support for concerts, large-scale productions and events

  • skilled in scheduling capability and cast management

  • hold a current drivers license

  • working knowledge of orchestral set ups and ability to draw orchestral diagrams

  • strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and competing priorities

  • well developed computer skills and ability to use Microsoft office applications

  • well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to apply theoretical knowledge and techniques.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
