Position Summary
This position is primarily with the Translational Human Neurodegenerative Research (THuNDR) Laboratory that serves as the Neuropathology Core for The Charles F. and Joanne Knight Alzheimer Disease Research Center, the Washington University Movement Disorders Center, the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), The Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN), and the DIAN Trials Unit (DIAN-TU). This individual will also interface with the Xiong Lab in the Center for Biostatistics, which will support the individual in working with these multiple large-scale projects to meet established standards and facilitate the individual’s growth within the biostatistics field.
This entry level position will assist with multiple research projects including coordination of large, multifaceted longitudinal research studies/projects by assisting with database design and implementation, data collection/management, and data quality control. Meets with supervisors and other staff members as needed to review progress.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform database management duties as part of several large NIH-funded longitudinal data repositories containing (but not limited to) neuropathologic data.
  • Transfer QC’d data to national and local data repositories and to individual investigators who requested the data; track the data sharing.
  • Monitor and evaluate data integrity. Perform quality control on all forms of data (paper, electronic, etc.);
  • Assist in development of data capture forms and screens.  Utilize REDCap and other EDC systems as required for generation of such forms and reports.
  • Generate routine reports on statistics and figures and tables summarizing the current status of databases, using standard statistical packages, SAS, R, Python and STATA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., may assist in manuscript preparation).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, informatics, and computer science or related field.
  • Expert knowledge base and experience with database design, management, and analysis.
  • PC/UNIX knowledge.
  • Skills and demonstrated success in designing and executing appropriate statistical data analysis in SAS, R Python, or other packages.
  • Experience in REDCap.
  • Capable of assuming a leadership role.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization skills.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as, Math, Statistics, Computer Science or Epidemiology). Experience and proficiency with data analysis and data management utilizing statistical packages utilized by department.

Salary Range
$52,000.00 – $88,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
