Statistical Officer (Adv#319/2023)

icddr,b has been playing a significant role in collaborating with government stakeholders to provide essential technical assistance for national studies such as the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey, Bangladesh Maternal Mortality Survey, and Bangladesh Health Facility Survey. This collaboration is pivotal in informing evidence-based policy-making for government stakeholders as well as international organizations, and facilitating informed decisions and interventions in the area of public health and healthcare in Bangladesh.
Key responsibilities:
The Statistical Officer will directly participate in stakeholder engagement, data management, data cleaning, preparing analytical datasets, and data analysis. The Statistical Officer will report to the research investigator and will be responsible for developing analytical plan for different study designs, providing training to field staff on survey questionnaires, quality control of data, processing routine statistical data, and data management work of secondary data analysis; supervise data management activities; maintain the security of database; supporting the PI in writing scientific report and manuscripts.
- Engaging directly with stakeholders for effective collaboration and communication;
- Collaborating closely with the research team to develop data collection tools, metrics, and work plans;
- Providing comprehensive training, supervision, and continuous monitoring of data collection quality;
- Involving with the data management of big data/nationally representatives surveys.
- Designing and executing meticulous data cleaning procedures for research datasets;
- Conducting data analysis to achieve study objectives and preparing summary data tables, graphs, and presentations;
- Conducting sophisticated statistical and mathematical modeling on research data;
- Supervise data management activities, maintaining database security, and supporting secondary data analysis;
- Prepare reports, PowerPoint presentations, and documentation to maintain a high-quality reporting system;
- Organize and facilitate data analysis workshops for the skill development of non-statistical personnel;
- Supporting the Principal Investigator (PI) in proposal, protocol, and manuscript writing.
Required qualification and experience:
- Masters in Applied Statistics or Biostatistics from a reputed university with good academic records;
- 3 years of experience in analyzing health data;
- Proficient in statistical programming languages including STATA/R;
- Experience in the analysis of verbal autopsies and health facility assessments will be preferred;
- Experience in active engagement with government stakeholders will be an added advantage.
Location: Dhaka
Contract Type and Duration:
- Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis; duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- 57,048 /- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
