Position Focus:
Elevate Policy Lab, based in the Yale Child Study Center, is dedicated to finding innovative and scalable solutions to advance mental health as a pathway to economic and social mobility. Since inception in 2019, Elevate’s work has largely focused on scaling the MOMS Partnership® model. MOMS is a recognized, two-generational program model of strategies and interventions that target maternal mental health and emphasize accessibility for under-resourced families. Under Elevate’s stewardship, the MOMS model has been implemented in diverse communities and settings across the country, and in collaboration with community, government and public sector partners. Elevate’s implementation work is closely integrated with research and evaluation, taking a mixed methods approach, and with investment in continuous learning and refinement. Elevate is seeking a Data Manager and Statistician who will serve as the lead statistician and primary data manager across multiple research and evaluation projects.
Reporting to the Director of Research, Evaluation, and Learning, the Data Manager and Statistician will play an important role in advancing Elevate’s program-wide objectives. The Data Manager and Statistician will design, develop, manage, and maintain data management systems including creating corresponding documentation and ensuring compliance with data security guidelines and regulations. The Data Manager and Statistician will be responsible for data management, data cleaning, and processing data in preparation for reporting. The Data Manager and Statistician will be the lead statistical analyst on a variety of projects, providing input in the design and analysis on projects, lead in drafting analytic plans with appropriate statistical techniques and conducting analyses to address research, evaluation, and quality improvement objectives. The Data Manager and Statistician will also contribute significantly to Elevate’s efforts to communicate and disseminate research and evaluation outcomes to multiple audiences. This work will involve synthesizing, interpreting and presenting data through writing and visual representation of data, in the context of reports, manuscripts for publications, presentations, and other outlets. The Data Manager and Statistician will work with other Elevate team members and external partners to support data collection and data reporting needs. This position requires the ability to task switch, manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with a dynamic team.
Essential Duties
1. Develops operational procedures for collection, editing, verification, and management of statistical data. 2. Develops and implements relevant statistical programs to incorporate data from multiple projects. 3. Designs comprehensive relational databases with working knowledge of the scientific applications impacting on the data analysis and reporting. 4. Assists faculty and other research professionals with the formulation and description of appropriate statistical methods. 5. Evaluates research studies and recommends statistical procedures to analyze the data. 6. Carries out comprehensive statistical analysis for a broad spectrum of types of data and types of studies. 7. Integrates the research methodologies of multiple projects into bio-statistical analyses. 8. Prepares reports summarizing the analysis of research data, interpreting the findings and providing conclusions and recommendations. 9. Presents talks, seminars, or other oral presentations on the methodology and analysis used in scientific studies. 10. Assists investigators in preparation of research grant applications by writing research methods sections pertaining to acquisition, analysis, relevance and validity of data. 11. Participates in the preparation of manuscripts that are submitted for peer reviewed publication. 12. May supervise and provide training for lower level or less experienced employees. 13. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field and four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Ability to develop and carry out analytical plans using advanced statistical approaches.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Advanced knowledge and related work experience utilizing statistical programming (SAS/R) for generalized linear and mixed model analyses.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Well-developed analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non-technical customers in written and verbal formats.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and manage/ prioritize multiple projects to ensure their quality and on-time delivery.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field and four years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
