The Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP) is seeking an experienced statistician to join us as a full-time team member.  MCORRP has been performing outcomes research for over 25 years in a variety of patient populations and has made important contributions to improving patient care.  Our friendly and collaborative staff and supportive faculty help to create a pleasant and productive work environment.

Responsibilities*

MCORRP will be providing data analysis for the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) consortium.  The PERT Consortium is made up of over 50 hospitals across the country that are entering patient data into a REDCap clinical registry, with the goal of better understanding pulmonary embolism treatments and to improve patient outcomes.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Conduct statistical analyses in support of PERTs mission of improving pulmonary embolism outcomes
• Provide input on appropriate statistical methods and strategies based on the research question and available data
• Produce graphs, tables, and figures for reports, presentations, and manuscripts
• Review and provide input on research proposals, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts
• Monthly attendance at PERT committee meetings and other meetings as requested by The PERT Consortium coordinating center (virtual)
• Collaborate closely with the MCORRP database programmer and The PERT Consortium project manager/coordinator (non UofM) around any concerns about data quality or completeness
• Collaborate with faculty statistician and/or fellow MCORRP statisticians as needed for challenging issues or to verify statistical analysis plans
• Maintaining excellent communication, including promptly replying to emails and providing updates on a regular basis as needed to keep team members aware of progress
• Database management as needed, in coordination with the MCORRP database programmer

Required Qualifications*

• Masters degree in statistics, biostatistics, public health, or related field
• At least 3-5 years of experience using statistical analysis software (e.g. SAS, STATA, R) in a healthcare research or quality improvement environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong knowledge and experience performing statistical analysis on large, complex patient datasets, including regression analysis, modelling, and survival analysis
• Broad knowledge of statistical principles, practices, and procedures and the ability to use this knowledge to advise investigators on the appropriate statistical methods for the research questions being asked and the available data
• Proficiency in preparing graphs, tables, and figures for reports, presentations, and manuscripts
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and ability to collaborate as a team member
• Ability to work independently, with limited direct supervision, and consistently meet expected deadlines
• Ability to multi-task and effectively adjust priorities as needed
• Very detail-oriented and organized
• Ability to be on-site in Ann Arbor at least one day/week

Desired Qualifications*

• 5 or more years of experience performing statistical analysis in a cardiovascular research or quality improvement environment
• Experience working with observational patient registries that include data on multiple patient follow-ups
• Experience performing data management (e.g. combining complex databases)
• Experience working with data from REDCap registries
• Experience performing analysis and producing tables, graphs, and figures for the purpose of medical research manuscripts
• Experience in Tableau
• Proven track record of productivity and efficiency working in a hybrid environment, if working in a hybrid environment is preferred by the candidate.

Additional Information

MCORRP staff generally work in a hybrid environment with many staff coming into our Arbor Farms office in Ann Arbor one day per week. Candidates for this position would generally be expected to work standard work hours (8am-5pm), except for any occasional meetings with The PERT Consortium that may be outside these standard work hours.  Candidates would be expected to be able to work onsite at least one day/week, but if full-time onsite work is preferred, that can be an option. 

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
