The Indiana University School of Dentistry has been advancing oral health in the state and beyond since 1879, when it was founded as the Indiana Dental College.   • Decontaminates all medical instruments, related equipment, and all labware by use of an automated washer/disinfector.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes while providing quality services.
  • Inspects all medical, lab instruments, and related equipment processed by department for form and function to assess acceptability for re-use.
  • Assists in establishing procedures for decontaminating, setting up and sterilizing instruments.
  • Monitors inventory levels to ensure adequate supplies, preventing waste and controlling costs.
  • Packages items for terminal sterilization based on the method of sterilization to be used.


This position is posted at the Foundational Career Level but may be filled at the Intermediate Career Level depending on the candidate’s qualifications. Although they will be similar, the duties and responsibilities may differ if filled at the lower rank. Please see the qualifications for each level listed below.

Foundational Requirements:

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED). 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 9 months of related experience. 

SKILLS

Required

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.

 

Intermediate Requirements:

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.  

 

EDUCATION

  • 2 years of related experience. 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required

  • Certified Registered Central Services Technician (CRCST) upon date of hire.

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
