Position Summary
This position provides a unique opportunity to be part of a passionate and growing nonprofit dedicated to the long-term maintenance, protection, and enhancement of trails and public lands. The Stewardship Coordinator will be responsible for regional stewardship planning for multiple project sites, project development, and on-the-ground execution of field projects and crews. The Stewardship Coordinator will serve as the point of contact for partners, volunteers and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with LVT public land partners, the LVT Board, and other relevant organizations to identify and prioritize annual maintenance, restoration, and improvement projects in the region served by LVT.
- Perform annual assessments to collect data on the condition of trails, using standards and processes defined by public land partners.
- Prepare an annual written plan to execute multiple priority projects, including identifying the scope of work, timelines, and resource needs.
- Implement restoration plans in the field, including recruiting Crew Leaders, volunteers, sawyers, and contract labor; actively managing crew and resources to achieve the project plans.
- Provide or arrange for skills training to develop the capacity of LVT and crew members to effectively perform restoration tasks.
- Perform follow-up, including reporting results.
- Represent LVT at key meetings to help facilitate planning and priority setting, develop new partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in natural resources, relevant nonprofit management, or related field, plus three years of outdoor leadership experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Possesses a strong conservation ethic and a passion for environmental stewardship.
- Has a strong belief in LVT’s mission and preservation of public lands.
- Able to travel extensively in the region and Colorado.
- Able to participate in vigorous physical activity at altitudes up to 12,000 feet on uneven terrain in backcountry settings up to 10+ miles, carrying and moving tools, materials, and supplies of 30+ pounds, and in various weather conditions.
- Able to work weekends and evenings based on project and meeting requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
- 40-hour per week non-exempt position at a salary range of $49,500 – $54,000 based on experience.
