Job Title: Stewardship Foreman

Job Location: St. Louis, Missouri (with travel)

Travel: Approximately 40% (primarily regional projects; typical travel is 2-3 nights/week, with occasional extended trips)

Pay: $28 – $35 per hour based on demonstrable skills and verified experience

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Stewardship Foreman is responsible for leading a self-performing maintenance crew and delivering daily production safely, on schedule, and to specification. They will perform stewardship across various types of environments including prairies, green roofs, detention basins, and forests. These sites may be urban or remote and may require boat to access. Spraying of herbicides from backpacks and other equipment will be necessary. This role coordinates labor, equipment, and materials in the field; communicates with the Superintendent/Project Manager; and ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies, plans/specifications, and applicable regulations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute daily work activities (Spraying, mowing, pulling weeds, chainsaw use)
  • Lead, train, and supervise crew members; assign tasks; enforce standards for quality, productivity, and professionalism.
  • Conduct pre-task planning and daily safety talks; identify hazards and implement controls; enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment utilization and maintenance; complete required pre-trip inspections for truck/trailer and daily equipment checks.
  • Order, receive, and track materials; maintain accurate counts and manage on-site storage to prevent loss and rework.
  • Maintain daily field documentation (timecards, spray logs, photos, job notes, and safety documentation).
  • Identify and communicate scope changes, site constraints, and schedule impacts to the Superintendent/PM
  • Operate equipment and perform hands-on work as needed (e.g., skid steer, tractor with boom sprayer, RTV with spray rig), while maintaining crew oversight.
  • Ensure site cleanliness, traffic control compliance, and restoration of disturbed areas per project requirements.
  • Support closeout activities, punch lists, and warranty work; ensure the client experience remains positive and issues are addressed promptly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • 3+ years of experience with at least 1+ year in a lead/foreman capacity (or equivalent demonstrated leadership).
  • Valid CDL-A driver’s license with acceptable MVR; ability to operate company truck and tow trailers as required.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40% and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills; able to coordinate with field leadership, clients, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical jobsite duties.
  • Strong plant identification and life cycle knowledge.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • OSHA 10 (OSHA 30 a plus); competent in job hazard analysis and crew safety leadership.
  • Experience with underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water) and common means/methods for trenching, shoring, and backfill/compaction.
  • Equipment operator proficiency (excavator, skid steer, dozer/loader) and understanding of production planning.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control (BMP installation/maintenance) and SWPPP compliance.
  • Ability to track quantities, complete daily reports, and support billing/closeout documentation.
  • Experience working on DOT/municipal or federally funded projects (Davis-Bacon documentation familiarity a plus, when applicable).

WORKING CONDITIONS / SAFETY HAZARDS:

This position is routinely exposed to weather, uneven terrain, moving equipment, noise, dust, and other jobsite hazards. Candidate must be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hi-vis, gloves, boots) and work safely around traffic, utilities, and heavy equipment.
