About the role:
We are looking for a communications extraordinaire, who is passionate about fixing the climate crisis. We’re after someone who: understands the science behind crafting persuasive climate messaging, as well as the art; who can coach key spokespeople and other communications staff on the latest research and best practice; and can develop and maintain key relationships.
This is a permanent full-time role working 38 hours a week, with the ability to work outside of normal business hours as required. We are open to flexible work options, so let us know how you best like to work.
As Communications Director at the Climate Council you will:
- Have 10+ years experience working in a senior media, communications, journalism or campaigning role.
- Have an excellent understanding of climate communications approaches that work and common pitfalls. An understanding of narrative and messaging research will be strongly regarded.
- Have experience coaching and mentoring colleagues on how to be persuasive communicators.
- Be confident in project managing a team of communicators on our narrative work.
- Have a proven record of precise written communication with a demonstrated ability to review and shape content so it is fit for purpose and meets our goals.
- Have a passion for helping to fix the climate crisis.
