Job Summary:
The Oregon Sea Grant is seeking a Strategic Communications Lead. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
Oregon Sea Grant (ORSG ) seeks a strategic communications lead to enhance the awareness of, access to, engagement with, and support of ORSG and its programs for internal and external audiences. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive communications program. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on content development to ensure ORSG marketing and communications effectively achieve program goals. This role reports to the Oregon Sea Grant Director and is in regular communication, and works collaboratively, with, the leadership team and program staff to develop and implement short- and long-range marketing and science communication plans and campaigns that advance program priorities and engage a diversity of audiences. This position oversees and directly contributes to the creation, writing, editing, and production of engaging content for Oregon Sea Grant, ensuring effective distribution across print and digital platforms.
Oregon Sea Grant, based at Oregon State University (OSU ) since 1971, is one of 34 Sea Grant College Programs established by Congress as a partnership between universities and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA ). Through an integrated program of research, extension and education, our mission is to spark discovery, understanding, and collaboration to foster healthy and resilient coastal communities and ecosystems” (seagrant.oregonstate.edu). Oregon Sea Grant has three primary programmatic areas. Our Research & Scholars program offers grant opportunities and supports competitive, peer-reviewed research projects led by ocean and coastal scientists from Oregon. It also provides undergraduate and graduate fellowships, internships, and scholarships. Our Extension & Engagement program works with coastal communities on important social, economic and environmental issues such as aquaculture, coastal hazards, commercial fisheries, invasive species, marine renewable energy, recreational boating, and water resources. Our Education program provides hands-on marine science education through the Hatfield Visitor Center, the Oregon Coast STEM Hub, youth and family programs such as summer camps, and student, teacher, and public events.

What You Will Need
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work is primarily on-site at the Oregon Sea Grant offices on the OSU campus in Corvallis, OR. Remote work may be possible, as agreed on between the employee and supervisor.
Occasional evening and weekend work and some in-state or regional travel related to event and program support may be required. Travel to the HMSC Visitor Center in Newport, OR, as needed.
May require occasional out-of-state travel for national program meetings or work outdoors related to program delivery.

Starting salary within the salary range will be commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
The recommended range for initial offers is $70,950 – $78,400.
