The American Bar Association (“ABA”) has an opportunity for a paid intern to gain valuable
experience while contributing to the important work of the ABA. The details of the paid internship
opportunity are as follows:
ABA Office Location: District of Columbia

Work Location: Combination of in office and remote/telework.
Duration of Internship: ten (10) weeks
Hours per week: 22.5
Number of Paid Intern Opportunities Available: 1

Description of Internship Opportunity: ABA ROLI’s Strategic Programs Division and Legal Reform Fund
(LRF) team has an opportunity for a paid intern to support the division’s women’s empowerment and
rule of law programs and new business efforts through research, material development, and analysis
of project performance and rule of law thematic areas across Legal Reform Fund countries
(Guatemala, Mexico, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste). The intern will work with LRF’s DC-based and field
staff and have opportunities to participate in meetings and learning sessions with other ROLI
divisions. Research assignments will focus on current programming and funding opportunities in
areas such as human rights, gender equity, political transitions, criminal law, and access to
justice.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a paid internship, individuals must be 18 years of age or older,
and authorized to work in the United States.

Relevant Program/Area of Study:
• Gender Studies, International Relations, International Development, Anthropology,
Sociology

Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Strong research, writing, analytical, knowledge management, and communication skills.
• Interest in women’s economic empowerment, gender, equity, social inclusion, and safeguarding, and international development in the nonprofit sector.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of
stakeholders.
