An excellent opportunity is available for a Strategic Project Development Manager to join the Strategy and Planning Department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the position

The Strategic Project Development Manager works on projects that support WEHI to deliver its strategic objectives and shape the direction and long-term success of the Institute. The Strategic Project Development Manager will work with cross-functional teams involving the institute’s researchers, professional services members and external stakeholders to identify and develop opportunities for the Institute and across the sector. The role will also drive the development of strategic plans, provide support for the implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives and the development of robust strategic proposals for internal and/or external funding.

Selection Criteria

Knowledge and skills:

  • High level planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to investigate, analyse and consolidate information to position proposals in a broader context
  • Demonstrated experience in writing successful, complex proposals or business cases, preferably for multiple stakeholders and/or multimillion dollar initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to liaise, mediate and influence
  • Demonstrated multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, exercise judgment and initiative to identify and rectify problems
  • Significant experience in, or understanding of, the biomedical sector
  • Experience working with monitoring and evaluation frameworks desirable
  • Personal qualities

Qualifications:

  • PhD in biomedical science or other related field highly desirable
  • Project management methodology qualification desirable
  • Monitoring and evaluation framework experience desirable

Terms of appointment

This position is available for 8 months in a part time capacity (0.8 FTE). Salary is PSE Level 8 ($110,249-$119,330) pro rata. Superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
