Stream Restoration Crew Member

The Stream Restoration Crew is tasked with implementing stream and wetland restoration activities on Philmont Scout Ranch in Colfax County, NM. Work will be focused on Cimarroncito Creek and associated cienegas (wetlands): https://maps.app.goo.gl/GxvG6r9VjauEJ3Cz5

Stream Restoration Staff are members of a 5-7 person crew led by a Stream Restoration Crew Foreman and a Stream Restoration Coordinator who will act as project manager. Crew will be tasked with implementing stream and wetland restoration activities such building beaver dam analogs and planting native vegetation. Crew will work with volunteer labor to aid in completion of project.

Crew will also monitor stream health using in-situ water quality monitoring devices and collecting samples for laboratory analysis and assist with other monitoring activities such as stream cross sections and drone flights.

The ideal candidates will have experience with stream restoration activities or other related activities, including trail work, forestry work, etc. Candidates with water quality data collection experience will receive extra consideration.

Dates of employment: May 25th – November 14, 2025

Housing will consist of wall tent during summer and bunkhouse style housing during fall. All food is provided.

Project is being completed as part of a State of New Mexico River Stewardship Program watershed improvement grant.
