Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Bridge Engineer to be based in Rocky Hill, CT. In this role, the ideal candidate will lead the design effort and project management for bridge projects in Connecticut and other states through AECOM’s Northeast region. This position is an opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges and career development opportunities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Lead Structural Engineer on projects including reviewing designs and plans.
Provides specialized technical input on transportation related projects.
Manages bridge projects including design tasks and coordinating work with engineering staff.
Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of new bridges utilizing pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and timber components.
Assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
Load evaluation of existing bridges.
Prepares technical specifications and design documents, report writing, technical engineering support, and limited inspection during construction.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements

Ongoing projects:
Currently the Rocky Hill, CT structures group is working on multiple major railroad bridge replacement projects along the Metro-North corridor.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and six (6) years of relevant experience in transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Valid U.S. Driver’s License, and as a condition of employment must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
Willing to obtain PE License reciprocity in the jurisdiction/s of the projects
Project experience with CTDOT and/or other State DOT’s
Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenBridge, and similar computer software

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (Connecticut locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $90,000 – $135,000.
