The Danish Refugee Council´s (DRC) Global Advocacy Unit (GAU) seeks a highly motivated Student Assistant to contribute to our work in support of people affected by forced displacement. To be successful in this role we expect you to have a keen interest in global displacement and migration; be good with words; understand and be able to communicate qualitative or rights-based data; have a systematic approach to and interest in information management; be technically minded and willing to learn. Additionally, experience with organizing events will be an added value.
Who are we
DRC´s Global Advocacy Unit (GAU) is situated within the Department of Partnerships, Advocacy and External Relations (PAER). The GAU is the custodian, convener, and coordinator for advocacy in DRC and responsible for the roll out of the Global Advocacy Strategy 2023-2025.
The unit works closely with regions and country operations to strengthen coherent advocacy from the local to the global level; leads selected global advocacy and policy engagement projects, and supports DRC’s senior management, including the Secretary General, in their external advocacy and representation of DRC.
The GAU is currently in the process of launching the Global Advocacy Hub, designed to leverage organizational advocacy evidence in support of delivering coherent advocacy positions and actions. It will facilitate knowledge sharing across advocates at DRC, on the priority advocacy agendas defined in the Global Advocacy Strategy 2023-2025.
About the job
The Student Assistant will be expected to perform a focal point role to the administration of the Global Advocacy Hub in addition to other tasks including support to meetings, note taking, maintaining intranet pages and drafting of content for external and internal use.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Day-to-day support to the successful functioning of the digitalized Global Advocacy Hub, through coordination with Regional Advocacy Coordinators to ensure regular updates to the website and the evidence library contained within the website;
- Respond to requests for support or training from DRC Regions and Countries on the Global Advocacy Hub;
- Management of information and workflows related to DRCs advocacy infrastructure;
- Maintain intranet pages for the team and other communication tools;
- Support to tasks related to both internal and external meetings, including note taking;
- Formatting and proofreading of documents;
- Logistical and technical support to online meetings, webinars and conferences;
- Other administrative support.
About You
To be successful in this role we expect you to have good interpersonal and communication skills, work independently as well as part of a team, work systematically with good structure, and have an eye for detail to get the job done. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- Be fluent in both written and spoken English
- Have completed minimum two years of higher education
- Be enlisted at a university for a relevant education
Desirable
- Keen interest in global displacement and migration
- A systematic approach to and interest in information management
- Experience with and/or knowledge of information management and internal communication
- Understanding of qualitative data and its application for diversified rights-based data sets

We Offer
Contract Length: for a period of 12 months
Start date: Ideally Monday 19 August, 2024, anytime soonest thereafter.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and HK
