This position is funded through October 31, 2025. Continuance after that date will depend upon funding availability. 

Dean of Students staff serve students through programs, events, resources, and services built around well-being, support, campus life and belonging. Our services also Student Conduct and Academic Integrity, Veteran and Military Affiliated Services, and Student Governance Organizations. Dean of Students is one of nine departments in the Division of Student Affairs.

Purpose

Serves in the Student Emergency Services unit assisting undergraduate and graduate students to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to student emergencies, student success, and retention. Address academic, financial, and health and wellness needs. Work under the supervision of the Student Emergency Services Assistant Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Resources and Consultation – Provide immediate and ongoing support to students in crisis including, but not limited to academic accommodations, emergency fund applications, and working with campus partners.

  • Coordinate Services – Provide students with comprehensive referral services.

  • Collaboration – Collaborate closely with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to student needs and crisis services.

  • Program management – Assisting the UT Outpost as needed.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree. Experience working with college students in a higher education setting. Professional demeanor. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a student affairs or academic program setting. Education which demonstrates potential for success in performing the essential functions of the position. Experience with crisis management. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse community and provide programs and services from a non-judgmental perspective. Strong attention to detail and successfully managing concurrent tasks. Independent decision making and problem-solving ability. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Salary Range:

$45,000 non-negotiable

Work Shift

  • 40 hours. Standard from 800AM to 500PM. The successful candidate must be flexible with afterhours work due to the nature of supporting students in crisis.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
