Job Description

This position will be working in the Library MakerSpace on the main floor of Bizzell Memorial Library. Workers in this position will be interacting with students, staff, and faculty as the Libraries continue supporting research and instruction with emerging technologies.

The primary responsibility of this position is to be an ambassador to emerging technologies including virtual reality, 3D printing, and associated 3D content, as well as electronics, robotics, and assorted emerging technologies. In this position you will be 1) assisting students, staff, and faculty to help them use these technologies for their academic and personal projects, 2) operating and maintain technology, and 3) helping library patrons envision new and innovative ways to use the University of Oklahoma Libraries.

Job Requirements

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the Spring semester as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

  • Must attach SPRING 2024 class schedule.

Skills:

  • Must communicate effectively in written and oral English.
  • Successful applicants will be able to effectively communicate with novices on technical subjects.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Must practice effective time management skills and maintain a professional appearance and manner.
  • Willingness to learn and interact with new unfamiliar technology.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Regular bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, standing for extended periods, frequent computer use, and light lifting.

Department Preferences:

  • Preference will be given to students with previous customer service experience.
  • Prior experience in 3D printing, virtual reality and electronics is not required but demonstrated ability to learn quickly is preferred.
