About the Student Life Division

The Student Life division ensures the delivery of student-centred support across the student lifecycle that underpins the University’s broader strategic visions by delivering support services and functions that facilitate and enhance the academic mission of the institution.  The Student Life division provides support services and programs that contribute to the student experience and success, including in the areas of health, counselling, disability services, orientation and transition, retention, student wellbeing, and student engagement through the activities of the Flinders University Student Association

About the Role

Flinders University has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Student Success and Wellbeing Advisor. As the Student Success and Wellbeing Advisor, you will play a key role in enhancing student success and wellbeing and will deliver a range of programs, events and outreach program that enhance the student experience. 

Working in small supportive team, you will support activities related to orientation, transition, and student communication. As a Student Success and Wellbeing Advisor you will also be responsible for:

  • Providing one to one service for students to support their wellbeing and academic needs, including liaising with academic staff as required, developing and monitoring individual student success plans, case managing complex student cases, and referring students to appropriate support services.

  • Consult with College and Portfolio staff, to audit College’s student success needs and the needs of specific student cohorts, to develop and implement programs and activities that meet these needs.

  • Increase awareness of support services and programs available to students and how to access these for both staff and students through focussed communications, presentations, and training.

About You

We are seeking an excellent communicator, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and who can provide one-on-one support to students from diverse backgrounds.  You will be required to deal with sensitive and complex issues and will need to have empathy and exercise sound judgement in dealing with these matters.  The successful candidate will also exhibit excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to collect, analyse and interpret data.

The successful Student Success and Wellbeing Advisor, will also demonstrate:

  • The completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.

  • Experience working in an advisory/case management role in areas relating to mental health and wellbeing.

  • Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate effective outreach activities and training programs with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing.
