What we want

The Summer Sea Term Physician works with other medical faculty to deliver health care to students and may assist in the day-to-day operations for assigned area.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• Current Medical License in the state of Texas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to assess symptoms and make an accurate diagnosis.

• Ability to prescribe treatment appropriate to patient’s condition and situation.

• Ability to use and manage and electronic medical records (EMR) system.

• Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Emergency room certified.

• Experience working in somewhat isolated environments.

Responsibilities:

• Provides Healthcare – Provides primary health care to students, which includes medical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications or treatments, counseling or education regarding health maintenance and disease/injury prevention, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

• Consults and Provides Referrals – Recognizes the need for consultation and/or referral for illness/injury outside the scope of practice/expertise.

• Documents Medical Issues – Completes legible, accurate, and appropriate documentation of patients’ encounters in medical records in a timely manner.
