Position Summary: Supervisors perform many roles and are the key to our program’s success. Supervisor’s are expected to provide project expertise and offer mentorship, training, and support to a team of crew members. Successful candidates will demonstrate resourcefulness, situational flexibility, effective communication skills, excellent judgement, maturity, initiative, professionalism, and the desire to devote themselves to a to a crew experience where the needs of others are placed above oneself. Supervisors are ultimatelty responsible for successes and shortcomings of the crew. 

About The C.R.E.W: The C.R.E.W. employs teens and young adults in environmental work including backcounty trails, fire prevention, and habitat restoration. Fieldwork is our classroom where staff learn technical skills, teamwork, adaptive problem-solving, communication, and responsibility. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPERIENCE 

Minimum age: 18 years old

  • Ability to keep others, in remote locations accountable to expectations 
  • Valid drivers liscence and insurable driving record 
  • Must be able to pass criminal history check requirements 
  • Experience leading conservation programs and members 
  • Leadership experience with conservation or youth corps or similar organization
  • Experience and desire in working with youth and young adults 
  • Strong skill level in at least one or more of the following areas: new trail construction and maintenance, chainsaw operation and maintenance, crosscut use and maintenance, hand tools, chipper and brush clearance tools, fencing and ecological restoration projects. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Some positions may require periodic overnight travel, non-tradtional work hours, ability to move across varied terrain, use program-specific tools and a range of technology on an infrequent or frequent basis. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to safely drive an organization vehicle may also be required for some positions.
