Safeguarding

The role-holder will have experience working according to ethical and good practice safeguarding principles. They will be expected to adhere to and promote Amna’s Safeguarding Policies as they will be involved in and responsible for programmes working with children and vulnerable groups in different settings.

How Will You Make a Difference?

Amna is seeking a clinical supervisor to provide supervision and reflective practice to Amna’s programmes team who deliver Amna’s training and support programmes with refugee communities globally. Amna’s programmes team includes trainers, most of whom have a therapeutic background and managers responsible for team and programme oversight. The supervision space is intended to provide a safe, supportive space to deepen training, facilitation and therapeutic understanding and skills to share best practices and provide a space for reflection and regulation for Amna programmes staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • To offer a safe space at two-weekly intervals to discuss programmes work, which may include programme content development, or case material from delivering trainings or peer supervision.
  • To develop the team’s understanding, skills and practice as values-based, trauma and identity-informed practitioners, trainers, and advocates
  • To develop supervisees therapeutic, systemic, theoretical understanding and practical skills for working with displaced and conflict-affected children, families, youth and vulnerable adults fleeing violence, seeking international protection (in mainly hostile host countries)
  • To keep information disclosed in meetings confidential unless there is a cause for concern regarding individual wellbeing when the supervisor will report such concerns to the Amna focal point or if a safeguarding issue arises the supervisor will report this to the Amna safeguarding focal point.
  • To provide quarterly check-ins between the supervisory team and Amna’s Director of Programmes to outline any trends arising in supervision discussions, highlight emerging training or other needs and for Amna to ensure that any relevant changes/developments in Amna are communicated to the supervisor to provide essential context.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Clinical Supervisor
  • Qualified mental health practitioner with extensive experience working with refugee and forcibly displaced communities
  • Previous experience providing supervision to frontline teams
  • Lived experience of being a refugee (desirable)
  • Experience providing supervision to lived experience teams delivering frontline work
  • IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with tact, diplomacy and complete confidentiality.

Work Location and Environment

This role is a remote job opportunity, and open to applicants in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Please note that the nature of working environment and hybrid schedule may be adjusted as per the organisation’s evolving needs.

This is a part-time position, requiring around 2 hours fortnightly – an estimated 90 mins for holding the group, and 30 mins for preparation / notes.
