About the San Jose Conservation Corps (SJCC+CS):
One of the first urban conservation corps in the country, the San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 (“Corpsmembers”) to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces. Today, SJCC+CS continues to operate its 1-year-long paid workforce development program, while also functioning as a WASC-accredited charter high school, allowing those who have aged out of the traditional education system to earn their high school diploma.

Position Summary:
The Field Site Supervisor I plays a vital leadership role in advancing the mission of SJCC+CS by guiding young adults (“Corpsmembers”, aged 18–27) in developing practical work skills while improving and preserving local natural landscapes. This position oversees environmental field projects across city and county parks, including trail maintenance and construction, invasive species removal, habitat restoration, urban beautification efforts, fire fuel reduction, and other conservation-related tasks. The supervisor is responsible for transporting the crew and equipment, coordinating project logistics, communicating with project partners, and ensuring high-quality, timely completion of all assigned work.
Beyond technical oversight, the Field Site Supervisor serves as a mentor and role model, fostering Corpsmember growth through skill development, goal-setting support, and consistent feedback. The role ensures strict adherence to safety standards and administrative requirements through daily reporting, safety briefings, equipment oversight, and incident documentation. By combining hands-on supervision with training, coaching, and policy enforcement, the Field Site Supervisor creates a safe, productive, and educational environment that prepares Corpsmembers for future employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Driving Record and Requirements: The incumbent will drive one or more company vehicles as an essential function of this position. If the position is offered and accepted, candidates must submit a copy of their DMV driver’s record and the record must be acceptable to our auto insurance. The candidate also must possess and continue to maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean driving record. Candidates must have a Passenger Endorsement on their license, or commit to obtaining one within six months of hire.
Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in the United States. Please be informed that San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School will NOT sponsor, represent, or sign any documents related to visa applications/transfers for H1-B or any other type of visa which requires an employer application.
Medical Verification: State law requires all employees working with youth to provide medical verification of negative tuberculosis test results within the last year. Employees will also be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. A physical exam may be required for positions that regularly transport passengers.
Background Check and Fingerprinting: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo LiveScan Fingerprinting as well as a background check, which includes a state and federal criminal history.
Drug Screen: If the position is offered and accepted, candidates will be required to undergo and pass a 5-panel drug screen.

**SJCC+CS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**
All new hires will be required to provide proof of vaccination absent an approved medical or religious exemption prior to their start date. If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated, their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means at it has been at least two weeks since the person has completed the entire recommended initial series of a COVID-19 vaccine.
