In Burundi, UNICEF has a very diverse portfolio of responsibilities but all with the same objective which is to assist the Government and other stakeholders to fulfill children’s economic, social, cultural, political, and civil rights. The UNICEF country program in Burundi aims to improve the lives of children and women in the following key areas: Child and maternal health, Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Social Policy and Advocacy, Adolescent empowerment and community resilience, and Humanitarian response.

Under the supervision of the Supply Officer, the Supply and Shipping Assistant is responsible for assisting the uninterrupted supply of affordable and good quality supplies and services, adapted to the particular context and through compliance with UNICEF’s policies, procedures and ethics standards with the following Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks:

  • Procurement/contracting
  • In-country logistics
  • Warehousing and inventory management
  • Alternative delivery mechanisms and procurement services

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

The following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to supply chain, business administration, contract/commercial law, or another relevant technical field.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context is required. Understanding of development and humanitarian work is an advantage.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in French and working knowledge of English is required.
