Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and reports to the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board.
At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to strategically and meaningfully integrate volunteerism into the implementation and delivery of their mandates. As part of this process, UNV works with UN entities to identify opportunities where volunteers add specific and unique value to development programmes and peacekeeping missions.

Context

IOM supports migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policy and practice. The organization works in emergency situations, developing the resilience of all people on the move, and particularly those in situations of vulnerability, as well as building capacity within governments to manage all forms and impacts of mobility.
To support the mandate of IOM in Pakistan, UNV Pakistan is collaborating with IOM Pakistan to recruit National UN Volunteers for volunteer assignment on Dari translation and interpretation, to support IOM in interpret/translate the migration portfolio. To ensure qualified candidates are selected for the National UN Volunteers position, the UNV Pakistan Field Unit is looking for Online Volunteers to support in the assessment marking (in Dari) during selection process of the exercise.

Task description

The selected Online Volunteers candidate will be expected to support us by marking the assessment shared with them in English/Dari language. To this end the online volunteers are asked:
– To check the document, translated from Dari to English or from English to Dari.
– To ensure the translation is concise.
– To review the overall documents and ensure that translation is marked accordingly
The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and other guidance as needed.
